How GCC brands actually get cited by ChatGPT: 1,200 answers analyzed

KEY TAKEAWAYS
  1. Citations follow third-party mentions, not domain size.
  2. Pages with 40–60-word declarative summaries win most often.
  3. Arabic-language questions are almost uncontested.

What we asked, and how

We put 1,200 commercial questions about Gulf markets to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity — from “best business bank account in the UAE” to “top real estate developers in Riyadh” — and logged every source each assistant cited, monthly, for six months.

Each section below opens with a heading and a plain declarative summary the assistants themselves could quote — the method this article recommends, practised by the page it is printed on.

Across our sample, a brand mentioned in three or more independent regional publications was cited roughly five times as often as brands relying on their own domain authority alone — regardless of site size.

The pattern held across sectors. Assistants appear to weight corroboration — the same claim made by sources that do not stand to gain from it — far more heavily than the polish or authority of any single domain.

“The assistants don’t reward the loudest site. They reward the one everyone else corroborates.”

What to do before next quarter

Add a 40–60-word declarative summary under every commercial heading, mark the page up with Organization and FAQ schema, and earn at least three independent regional mentions per priority topic. That combination covered 80% of the winning citations we logged.

None of it is exotic. It is the same discipline that won featured snippets a decade ago, pointed at a new set of readers — and in Arabic, where the field is still close to empty, it is startlingly cheap.
